Rufián seeks support from disappointed socialist voters in Catalonia

At a campaign event in Badalona, ERC candidate Gabriel Rufián appealed to disappointed socialist voters ahead of Spain’s general election.

He said the Catalan Socialist Party, known as the PSC, did not deserve their votes and urged them to support ERC instead.

Rufián wants a stronger ERC group in parliament to influence a PSOE-led government, rather than to govern Spain himself.

He defended working with Podemos and described ERC as an inclusive party that should not decide who counts as Catalan.

On housing, he backed market intervention and argued that each family should have one home.

He also called for more investment in Catalonia’s Rodalies rail network and an independent review of infrastructure.

His stated aim is to win more parliamentary strength for ERC in the coming election.
