South Korea sets dates for new civil service aptitude tests
South Korea’s Ministry of Personnel Management has announced dates for the two levels of its civil service aptitude test next year.
The advanced test will be held on February 27, 2027, and replace the first-stage exam for grade 5 civil service and diplomatic candidate recruitment.
The basic test, on July 10, will replace the first-stage exam for grade 7 recruitment.
A new scoring system will give different marks to questions based on their importance and difficulty.
Candidates must apply separately for the aptitude test and for each recruitment exam; grade 5 and diplomatic candidate applications are scheduled for March 4–8, while grade 7 applications are scheduled for July 12–16.
The grade 9 written exam is set for March 27, and Korean history will be assessed through a separate proficiency test at level 3 or higher.
More details, including planned hiring numbers, are due in early January through official government notices and the ministry’s website.
