Kim Jong Un says North Korea-Vietnam ties are entering a new phase

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un replied to a message from Vietnam’s leader, To Lam, thanking him for his congratulations on North Korea’s founding anniversary.

The anniversary was on September 9 and marked 78 years since North Korea’s founding.

Kim said the countries’ traditional friendship and cooperation had entered a new phase after their leaders met in Pyongyang last October.

He said North Korea and Vietnam would expand ties in line with their peoples’ shared interests.

The two countries have continued exchanges since the summit, including a visit to North Korea in May by Vietnam’s foreign minister, Le Hoai Trung.

During that visit, they agreed to strengthen official exchanges, cooperation in different fields and coordination in multilateral forums.
