Vengsarkar urges BCCI to restore toss in U-23 cricket

Vengsarkar urges BCCI to restore toss in U-23 cricket

Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar wants the toss restored in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy, India’s men’s under-23 tournament.

The BCCI removed the toss for the 2024-25 season, and the change has continued for two seasons.

Instead, the visiting team chooses whether to bat or bowl first.

The board introduced the rule to discourage home teams from preparing spin-friendly pitches to gain an advantage.

Vengsarkar says teams should learn to adapt to conditions and that the toss adds excitement and an important element to matches.

He has urged the BCCI to bring the toss back next season; no board decision on his request is stated.
