Macarena Robles resigns from Andalusian parliament to focus on Almonte

Macarena Robles has resigned from Andalusia’s parliament to focus on her campaign to become mayor of Almonte, in Huelva province.

She was elected to the regional assembly about four months ago and says she wants to devote her work to her town.

Francisco Baluffo will take her vacant seat; he is currently a PSOE councillor in the city of Huelva.

He will keep his council seat, and the PSOE has named María Teresa Flores as the city group’s new spokesperson.

Robles says her campaign will focus on listening to residents and addressing local needs, including in Almonte, El Rocío and Matalascañas.

The PSOE says Enrique Gaviño will not join Huelva’s city council group, although another account says that would require a further resignation from the candidate list.

Robles will now focus on the local campaign ahead of the next municipal elections.
