Koffee with Karan begins its ninth and final season after 22 years

Koffee with Karan, an Indian celebrity talk show hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, is ending after 22 years and 161 episodes.

Its ninth and final season starts streaming on Jio Hotstar on 14 October.

The show began on television in 2004 and later moved to streaming.

It became known for lively interviews in which film stars discussed personal matters and sometimes made sharp remarks about one another.

Social media and public scrutiny later made celebrities more cautious about what they said, while Johar faced intense online criticism.

The show helped make celebrity gossip a major part of Indian pop culture.

The new season is the show’s final one.
