Mexico seizes 33,097 suspected counterfeit goods at Lázaro Cárdenas port

Mexican authorities seized 33,097 suspected counterfeit goods at the port of Lázaro Cárdenas in Michoacán.

The goods were found in two containers inspected by customs and naval officers.

One container came from Hong Kong and was declared to contain pens, but officers found 22,865 items, including watches, headphones, electronic accessories, sneakers and costumes.

A second container held 10,232 more items, including headphones and sneakers; its origin was not specified.

The goods were handed to Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office, which will determine their legal status.

Authorities say they will continue investigating the shipment’s origin and who was responsible.
