Centre Pompidou Paraná opening pushed back to 2029

Centre Pompidou Paraná opening pushed back to 2029

The Centre Pompidou Paraná is now expected to open in 2029 in Foz do Iguaçu, southern Brazil.

It is planned as the French institution’s first outpost in the Americas, but its opening date has already been delayed twice, from 2027 to 2028 and now 2029.

Construction has not started, and the tender process has not launched; the current work is focused on technical preparation and basic design.

The project was created by a state decree in 2024, with an investment of around 250 million reais, and includes eight years of cooperation with the Centre Pompidou.

The museum will move forward under a new state government, led by governor-elect Sergio Moro, who has promised to complete it.

The museum is planned near the airport and a protected natural area, on the road to Iguazu Falls, and is estimated to attract around 800,000 visitors each year.

The builder will be selected later, with no date confirmed, and the 2029 opening depends on the schedule holding.
