Blackburn beat Bristol City 1-0 as goalkeeper Toth makes key saves

Blackburn Rovers beat Bristol City 1-0 in a Championship match at Ashton Gate.

Oladapo Afolayan scored the only goal in the 38th minute, shooting from outside the box.

Bristol City had several chances, but goalkeeper Balazs Toth repeatedly denied them, including saves from Dom Ballard and George Tanner.

City thought they had equalised in the 75th minute, but Tomi Horvat’s goal was ruled out for offside.

Blackburn held on despite late pressure, and the win lifted them into the play-off places.

It was Blackburn’s first away league win since Tony Mowbray returned as manager, while Bristol City suffered a fourth home defeat without scoring in all competitions this season.

Bristol City are due to host Sheffield United on Saturday, October 17.

Tonight we created more than enough, first 25 or 30 minutes we were on top of the game, had some big chances, corners and set-pieces were working well and we didn't put it away.
