Denis Villeneuve says directing James Bond will take him beyond Dune

Denis Villeneuve says he is ready to leave Dune behind after completing the third film in his series.

He is set to direct the first James Bond film of the Amazon MGM era, which will feature a new actor as 007.

Villeneuve described the Bond project as the strong change of direction he needs after years focused on the desert world of Arrakis.

He also said he wants to approach the next Dune film without becoming complacent.

Dune: Part Three will be different from its predecessors, with a changed world, different pacing and an older Paul Atreides.

Paul, played by Timothée Chalamet, is dealing with the consequences of what he created and trying to escape a cycle of violence.

The film opens December 18.
