Trade experts project a strong opening for Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana

Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana: Rise Of A Legend opens worldwide on November 5, with Sai Pallavi and Yash also starring.

The film is the first part of a two-part adaptation of the Ramayana, an epic familiar to generations in India.

It has an estimated budget of Rs 4,000 crore and is planned for release in six languages across 59,000 screens worldwide.

Advance bookings in India have passed Rs 50 crore, but the film’s early reactions have been mixed, including criticism of its visual effects, pacing and screenplay.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala expects a first-day India collection of Rs 100-150 crore, while exhibitor Akkshay Rathie says it could earn more than Rs 100 crore.

The film’s opening will test whether its scale and star power can translate into box-office records as it reaches cinemas.

Yash’s stardom will push Karnataka to fire in a big way. With the ticket rates and the anticipation that’s there at ground level, it has the potential to go beyond Rs 100 crores on day one. It has the intrinsic potential and value to become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time
