Moonshine Project brings Telugu indie music to Hyderabad

The Moonshine Project has supported Telugu independent music in Hyderabad for 11 years.

The venue began in Jubilee Hills in 2015, when the city’s independent Telugu music scene was still growing.

In 2016, it shifted its focus to Telugu music after co-founder Hemender Reddy objected to a singer being cut off for performing in Telugu.

It has since become a regular platform for Telugu artists, while its EXT space, opened in 2022, hosts musicians working in different languages and genres.

The project says it has introduced 36 bands from Hyderabad and runs a varied programme of concerts and other events.

A new branch is planned for Neopolis in Kokapet, a commercial area of the city.

The move would extend a venue built around live music and artist-led community events.
