San Francisco police leader and daughter remembered at funeral

Former San Francisco deputy police chief Ann Mannix and her daughter Katie were remembered at a funeral on Friday at St. Ignatius Church.

The two women were found dead on October 11 at the family’s home in Mill Valley, in Marin County.

Authorities believe Ann’s estranged husband, retired police sergeant Kevin Mannix, shot his wife and daughter before turning the gun on himself.

Ann was 65 and had served in law enforcement for 34 years; Katie was 24.

Ann’s surviving children spoke publicly about their loss, with Lauren describing her mother as loving and dedicated and her sister as smart and kind.

The killings have deeply affected San Francisco’s police community, where Ann and Kevin had both worked; hundreds of mourners, including city officials and police officers, attended the service.
