Canton Fair visitors flock to Shenzhen’s Huaqiangbei electronics market
The first phase of China’s Canton Fair ended on October 19, and its second phase is due to start on October 23.
Between the two phases, many overseas visitors have travelled from Guangzhou to Huaqiangbei, a major electronics market in Shenzhen.
Some visitors do not usually trade in electronics, but came to see and buy products such as drones, AI toys and smart rings.
Some Huaqiangbei shops say fair-period revenue has more than doubled compared with normal days.
The district recorded more than 10,000 foreign visitors a day from October 15, up over 50% from the same period a year earlier.
Easier tax refunds and one-stop mobile payments are helping overseas buyers, while the Canton Fair’s second phase is next.
