Pointers PE plans 15 billion won investment in South Korea's Remed

South Korean investment firm Pointers PE plans to invest 15 billion won in Remed, a medical-device company listed on the KOSDAQ market.

The investment, made with LF Investment, is planned as 5 billion won for existing shares and a 10 billion won convertible bond.

The deal would provide Remed with new growth funding while allowing some existing shareholders to sell shares.

Remed makes medical devices, including magnetic-field equipment used for chronic pain treatment, and nearly 70% of its recent revenue came from pain management and muscle stimulation.

Pointers PE sees room to expand Remed's business as demand grows for pain care and non-invasive treatment, and as interest rises in managing muscle health alongside GLP-1 weight-loss treatments.

The firm says it will use its international business and investment networks to seek partnerships and improve how Remed's products are used in different markets.

Its next step is to pursue that growth strategy, although the source does not give a completion date for the investment.
