Megastudy Education ends share-buyback trust after acquiring 271,351 shares

South Korean education company Megastudy Education acquired 271,351 of its own shares through a trust agreement with Samsung Securities.

The company ended the 10 billion won agreement on October 20, after completing the planned purchases ahead of its original January 2027 end date.

Buying back shares means a company purchases its own stock from the market.

The shares represent 2.62% of the company’s issued shares.

After the agreement ended, the shares were due to be transferred into the company’s own securities account.

Megastudy Education says it plans to cancel the shares within a year of acquiring them, reducing the number of shares in circulation.

The company also held 11,960 other treasury shares, bringing its total holdings to 283,311 shares at the time of the filing.
