São Paulo Metro selects Brio proposal for development at three terminals
The São Paulo Metro selected Brio Investimentos to develop property at terminals linked to Vila Madalena, Vila Mariana and Belém stations.
The Metro says the terminals together receive more than 207,000 passengers on each weekday.
Brio may build above the stations, but construction must not disrupt Metro operations.
The Metro has not set the type of development, and each project must be approved by the company.
Brio will lead planning and financing, while the Metro will provide the properties and take part in a fund; the Metro will not contribute money.
The Metro expects the arrangement to provide revenue beyond passenger fares, but it has not estimated how much it will receive.
The developments are to be completed within five years under the stated terms, and the Metro can reclaim the properties if the projects fail or are seriously interrupted.
