Un coroner relie la mort d’une adolescente à l’absence de ceinture

A 15-year-old passenger died in a truck crash on Highway 40 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, on Aug.

7, 2025.

The truck hit a van in slow traffic near roadworks, then overturned in the highway median.

The coroner found that the teen was probably not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck during the rollover.

The coroner said the driver reacted late to slowing traffic, but could not determine why she did not react sooner.

The truck driver, a 20-year-old woman, was injured and survived.

The coroner classified the death as accidental, and prosecutors decided not to charge the driver.

The coroner issued no recommendations.
