Woman finds a six-year-old girl’s message in a bottle on a Somme beach

During a walk on Fort-Mahon beach in northern France, Peggy Delhaie found a bottle washed up on the sand.

Inside was a letter written by a six-year-old girl in Dublin, Ireland.

The letter, dated 1 August 2026, introduced the girl’s family by their first names and included a drawing of her dog.

She asked whoever found the bottle to write back using the contact details she left.

Delhaie, who is from Valenciennes, plans to tell the girl where the bottle was found and send her a photo of Fort-Mahon.

She also hopes the exchange might lead to a meeting if the girl visits with her family.
