UN chief warns Houthi attacks are worsening civilian suffering
UN Secretary General António Guterres voiced concern over Houthi attacks on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia and rising hostilities near Taiz, Yemen.
He said the violence is causing immense suffering among civilians and increasing regional tensions.
Guterres called for attacks on homes, hospitals, schools, airports and energy facilities to stop.
He warned that wider conflict could affect energy markets, supply chains and financial systems, adding to cost-of-living pressures around the world.
He urged restraint, respect for international law and protection for civilians and freedom of navigation.
The UN is working toward a political path forward in Yemen, but Guterres said the fighting must end.
