Vikings activate Jordan Mason after thumb injury

The Minnesota Vikings activated running back Jordan Mason from injured reserve on Saturday after he recovered from a fractured thumb.

Mason hurt his thumb in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers and had surgery last month.

He missed time while Aaron Jones Sr. handled most of the Vikings’ carries.

Mason is expected to share the running workload with Jones against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

In his only game this season, Mason rushed 15 times for 59 yards and a touchdown in a 39-22 win over Green Bay.

His return gives Minnesota another option at running back as it prepares for the Colts.

The Vikings have not specified how many carries Mason or Jones will get.
