Medvedev qualifies for the ATP Finals after reaching Vienna semifinals

Daniil Medvedev beat Adrian Mannarino in Vienna on Friday, winning 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.

The result secured his place at the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, from November 15 to 22.

The season-ending event brings together the eight top players in the year’s standings.

Medvedev has qualified for the seventh time in eight years, joining Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton.

Jannik Sinner has qualified but will miss the event because of injury, leaving four places still to be decided.

Alex de Minaur can move into ninth by reaching the Vienna final, while Taylor Fritz is also still competing in Basel.

Neither can qualify this week, and the standings race ends after next week’s Paris Masters.
