Jalisco launches label to promote regional products and support producers
Jalisco's economic development department has launched the Hecho en Jalisco label to promote products tied to the Mexican state.
The first of its two programs will give 40 businesses a label for products including tequila, raicilla, Yahualica chile and Sayula cajeta.
Applicants must have operated in the product's region of origin for at least 24 months and hold valid authorization to use its legal protection.
Applications for the label are open from October 27 to November 25, 2026, and selected businesses can use it on products and in shops, as well as access sales and trade-fair connections.
A second program will support 75 producer groups working on four products to seek geographical-indication protection.
The support includes regional meetings, technical and business workshops, and help preparing applications to Mexico's Industrial Property Institute; follow-up will continue until the institute issues a decision.
The aim is to increase sales and help keep more of the economic value with producers.
Jalisco’s Economic Development Secretariat launched the “Hecho en Jalisco” label to promote regional products and strengthen producer communities.
The label is intended to increase the visibility and commercial value of products linked to their territory.
One program track will award 40 labels to businesses with products already protected by an origin designation or geographical indication.
A second track will support 75 producer groups seeking geographical indications for four products from Jalisco.
