Senate names Eduardo Braga to lead review of Brazil’s CBS tax rate
Senator Eduardo Braga will lead the Senate review of the reference rate for Brazil’s new federal tax, the CBS.
Public hearings begin on November 11, and the Senate plans to invite Finance Minister Dario Durigan, the head of the audit court and tax experts.
The audit court set a reference rate of 11.3468%; if the Senate does not approve a resolution in time, that rate will apply.

The CBS will be tested next year, and the government expects it to raise R$636 billion in 2027.
