Record US Oil Output Cannot Ease Diesel Supply Constraints
Crude oil must be processed in a refinery before it becomes diesel.
Refineries can adjust their output only so much because their equipment and the oil they process limit the product mix.
US refineries are already running at about 96% of capacity, leaving little room to make more.
So record oil production does not automatically mean more diesel for drivers and businesses.
