Man admits cutting railway cables near Zwolle; prosecutors seek three years
A former marine admitted cutting railway cables near Zwolle in the Netherlands late last year.
The cable theft partly disrupted rail services across eastern Netherlands, according to the case coverage.
He told the court he regretted what he did and had not foreseen the consequences.
Prosecutors say he took major risks and are seeking three years in prison, including six months suspended.
ProRail says a new approach to deterring copper thieves is proving successful.
The court has yet to decide the sentence.
