Epstein sought Woody Allen’s company to rebuild social standing, Le Monde says

Le Monde says Jeffrey Epstein approached filmmaker Woody Allen in 2010 as part of an effort to regain standing among international elites.

The newspaper based its account on documents released by the US Justice Department.

It says Epstein gave Allen gifts over nine years, including private-jet trips, an iPhone, an Apple Watch and clothing.

Epstein tried to influence casting for some Allen films from 2010 to 2017, seeking roles for young women from his circle whom he called assistants, according to the newspaper.

The two exchanged emails until 2018, and Epstein also spent time with Allen’s wife, Soon-Yi Previn, and did favors for the family.

Epstein had been convicted in 2008 of prostitution-related crimes, including procuring a minor, and died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.
