Union Berlin invites quiz contestant after wrong answer about its coach

Union Berlin invited quiz contestant Noah Petrik to its Bundesliga home game against Cologne in Berlin.

On the German TV quiz “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, Petrik was asked who coached Union.

His phone-a-friend gave the wrong name, Igor Spassikowski, and Petrik chose that answer.

The correct coach is Mauro Lustrinelli, and the mistake cost Petrik 1,500 euros, leaving him with 500 euros.

The club turned the mistake into a joke by giving him a Union shirt printed with “Spassikowski” on the back.

Petrik accepted the invitation, attended the match at the Alte Försterei and met Lustrinelli.

I think this is very cool, having this shirt now. You have to say: a very funny action by Union Berlin.

I was surprised by the waves this stirred up. But I think that’s football. There’s passion and emotion in it.

We did a good thing. We invited him to a Union game against Köln. I think he accepted, so we can get to know each other.
