Turkey’s real effective exchange rate index rose in October

The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye said the lira’s real exchange rate index rose in October.

The consumer-price-based index increased by 2.66 points to 107.76, while the producer-price-based index rose by 1.67 points to 102.90.

The indexes measure the lira’s value after taking price changes into account.

In October, Turkey’s consumer prices rose 2.58% from the previous month, and producer prices rose 1.65%.

The dollar gained an average of 1.63% against the lira, while the euro lost an average of 1.07%.

Changes in Turkish prices and exchange rates pushed the indexes up, while changes in prices among Turkey’s trading partners pulled them down; no further action or next step was given.
