Febrie Says Tan Kian Was Not Pressured During Investigations

Former prosecutor Febrie Adriansyah is on trial in Jakarta over allegations that he extorted businessman Tan Kian and laundered money.

Tan testified as a witness in the case, which also involves Ferry Yanto Hongkiriwang, known as Ferry Boboho.

Tan said investigators never suggested he would become a suspect in the Jiwasraya or ASABRI cases, and that they did not threaten or force him during questioning.

Febrie said he believed Tan did not feel threatened, but told the judge he did not know whether Tan’s account of a money request was true.

Febrie said Tan described a transfer of SGD 5 million before April 2020, while Ferry had earlier placed a meeting with Febrie in April 2021.

Prosecutors accuse Febrie of seeking Rp 55 billion from Tan through Ferry and of laundering about Rp 346 billion and US$440,990.

The trial is examining the alleged extortion and money laundering, but no next step was stated.
