Yahoo Japan bans empty trading card packs and boxes from listings
LINE Yahoo, working with Pokémon, banned empty trading card boxes and packs on Yahoo!
Flea Market and Yahoo!
Auctions from October 13.
The rule covers trading cards generally, while other listing limits apply specifically to the Pokémon Card Game.
Sellers have sometimes repackaged opened cards to make them look unopened, creating a risk that buyers will be misled.
Listings of Pokémon card products by the carton are also banned, including products released in the past.
For now, a separate ban on large numbers of the same product applies to boxes of the MEGA expansion pack “30th CELEBRATION” until October 31.
These steps are intended to reduce the use of empty packaging in scams and limit bulk listings of the named Pokémon product.
LINE Yahoo banned listings of empty trading card boxes and packs on Yahoo! Flea Market and Yahoo! Auctions from October 13.
The company said the ban is intended to reduce the risk of empty packaging being used to make repackaged cards appear unopened.
For Pokémon cards, listings by the carton and large-volume listings of the same product for a period after release are also prohibited.
The large-volume restriction currently applies to boxes of the MEGA expansion pack 30th CELEBRATION and runs through October 31.
