Bilal Erdoğan says Turkey is stronger and must help stabilize its region

Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan spoke at the 9th general assembly of the International Union of Democrats in Neuss, Germany.

He said Turkey is stronger than it was 25 years ago and is determined to set its own foreign policy.

He argued that conflicts and instability in nearby countries have held back Turkey’s economic progress.

He said Turkey should work to end conflicts including the Russia-Ukraine war, the fighting in Gaza, and the war involving Iran, Israel and the United States.

He also warned that rising oil prices could bring another wave of inflation, affecting Turkey and Europe.

Erdoğan said stronger ties between Turkey and Europe would benefit both, and called for civil society to have more influence in Turkish politics.

He said Turkey would continue trying to act as a stabilizing force as long as it remains strong.
