Maaya Rajeshwaran wins first pro singles title and sets Indian age record

Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi, a 17-year-old Indian tennis player, won her first professional singles title at the W35 Lagos tournament in Portugal.

She beat Spain’s Celia Cervino Ruiz 6-4, 6-2 in the final on October 11, 2026.

The win made her the youngest Indian woman to win a W35-level singles title.

At 17 years and three months, she broke a record held by Sania Mirza, who was 17 years and 10 months when she won a title in Lagos in 2004.

Rajeshwaran came through qualifying and beat several opponents on her way to the final, including the top seed.

She also won the doubles title with Ukraine’s Yelyzaveta Kotliar.

The titles mark a major early achievement in her professional career; no next step is stated.
