France to advance nearly €11 million in fuel aid to fishing businesses

France’s government will advance nearly €11 million in fuel aid to fishing businesses facing high fuel costs.

The payments are for about 2,000 businesses that received the first aid round in April and May.

The advance covers planned aid for September-October and November-December.

It is not additional funding: the payments will later be adjusted against the aid due.

The government says the early money is intended to ease fishing businesses’ cash-flow problems.

The national fisheries committee welcomed the measure but said fuel prices remain a concern.

The first payments are expected to begin next week, and the government has also opened access to an interest-free loan.
