ITA Airways flight diverts to Zurich after passenger falls ill and dies

A 61-year-old passenger fell critically ill on ITA Airways flight AZ325 from Paris to Rome on Monday, October 19.

The crew diverted the plane to Zurich while it was flying over Switzerland so the woman could get urgent medical care.

Two doctors on board and the crew tried to help her, and an ambulance and police were waiting at the airport.

She died after the plane landed, despite those efforts.

The flight later continued to Rome and landed there normally.

The emergency diversion interrupted the trip for the other passengers, but no further details about their arrangements are given.
