Poll projects EH Bildu winning seven seats in Basque Country
A Basque government poll projects EH Bildu will lead in the November 29 general election in the Basque Country, a region in northern Spain.
The survey, conducted October 20 to 23, estimates the party would win seven seats, up from five in 2023.
The Basque Nationalist Party, or PNV, is projected to fall to four seats, while the Basque Socialists are expected to keep five.
The poll suggests EH Bildu would gain support as Sumar and Podemos lose votes; both parties are projected to fall below the level needed to win a seat.
EH Bildu is projected to lead in Gipuzkoa and narrowly edge the Socialists in Bizkaia, while the Socialists are expected to remain strongest in Álava.
The PNV has been one of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s parliamentary partners, but the poll points to weaker support for it in the region.
These are survey estimates, not election results, and the poll was conducted before the Urda accident mentioned in the report.
