Colin Farrell plans foundation for adults with developmental disabilities

Actor Colin Farrell is preparing to launch a foundation in honour of his son James.

James, 20, has Angelman syndrome, a rare condition that affects movement, speech and cognitive development.

Farrell says James has made strong progress, but he is concerned about who will support his son when his parents are no longer there.

He worries James could end up in residential care without people nearby to provide companionship and help.

The foundation is intended to offer advocacy, education and programmes that build independence for adults with developmental disabilities.

Farrell also wants it to include a summer camp for families.

The foundation is being prepared, but no launch date is given.
