South Korea advances plans for 5,032 homes at three Seoul sites

South Korea’s Land and Housing Corp.

is advancing three public housing projects in Seoul that are planned to provide 5,032 homes.

The sites are in Singil 4, Nokbeon-dong and near the Songjung-dong community center.

The largest project is 2,676 homes in Nokbeon-dong, followed by 1,273 in Singil 4 and 1,083 near the community center.

The three areas completed their official designation as project districts on September 30.

The homes are part of a public scheme to increase city housing supply and improve older neighborhoods.

The corporation will move ahead with contractor selection and other steps needed for approval of the detailed plans.

It plans to consult residents, help set up resident representative groups early and combine design and construction competitions to shorten the process.
