Prabowo Sends Rp200 Billion to Fight Fires in South Sumatra

President Prabowo Subianto sent Rp200 billion to fight forest and land fires in South Sumatra, Indonesia.

The funds went in two stages to the provincial government and 14 districts and cities.

The first Rp100 billion went to the province and four districts, while the second Rp100 billion went to 10 more local administrations.

Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said the allocations took account of the emergency status in each area.

The money adds to existing national and local fire-response budgets, including funding for weather modification and water-bombing operations.

Local governments were told to spend it transparently and only on fire response, and the central and local governments are expected to coordinate their efforts.
