GTA 6 qualifies for the 2026 Game Awards
Rockstar’s GTA 6 is eligible for the 2026 Game Awards after the show set its cutoff at November 20.
The game is due out on November 19, one day before the deadline.
That means it can compete this year instead of waiting for the 2027 awards, but eligibility does not guarantee a nomination or a win.
Judges from media outlets and other groups need time to play games before deciding which ones to nominate and reward.
Industry leaker NateTheHate has said that review copies could reach media and creators before October ends.
The next step is for judges to assess the game, with the awards outcome still unknown.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is eligible for the 2026 Game Awards because it is due to be commercially available before the awards’ cutoff.
The cutoff for most categories is November 20, 2026, at 9 p.m. PT, while the Players’ Voice cutoff is November 30.
GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026.
The eligibility rules were reported on October 15, as questions had arisen because the game’s release date is close to the awards deadline.
Reviewers and voters will still need time to play the game before deciding whether to nominate or vote for it.
