Indonesia’s agriculture minister wins award for governance reforms

Indonesia’s Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman received a 2026 leadership award in Jakarta on Friday.

The award recognized his work to change how the Agriculture Ministry is run, including deregulation, budget efficiency and stronger accountability.

By October 2026, agricultural gross domestic product had grown 5.74%, according to the ministry’s figures.

The ministry also simplified 145 fertilizer distribution rules and cut subsidized fertilizer prices by 20%.

These changes affect how agricultural support is managed and the price farmers pay for subsidized fertilizer.

Amran has received positive performance scores from survey organizations during the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto’s government.
