Sergio Rico’s home in Seville area robbed by masked intruders

Five masked intruders raided Sergio Rico’s home around 10 p.m.

on Monday in Bollullos de la Mitación, near Seville, Spain.

Rico, a former Sevilla goalkeeper, was having dinner with his wife, their two young children, his mother-in-law and a household employee.

The intruders were armed and entered while the family was inside, when the home’s alarm was not switched on.

They took valuables, and reports say the family hid in a room before the intruders forced their way in.

Accounts differ over whether Rico was physically assaulted: some reports say he and his wife were attacked, while Rico denied receiving a severe beating.

The family has filed a complaint with Spain’s Civil Guard, and the incident is being investigated.

No official findings about the intruders or whether the robbery was planned have been reported.
