Antalya-Alanya motorway aims to cut travel time to 36 minutes

Turkey is building a motorway between Antalya and Alanya to meet rising travel demand in the region.

The planned route will run 122 kilometres from Serik Junction to Alanya West Junction, with seven junctions, five tunnels and 16 viaducts.

Construction is 35% complete, according to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu; work is continuing on tunnels, viaducts and other structures.

Once the road opens, the trip is expected to take 36 minutes instead of 2.5 hours, a reduction of 114 minutes.

The faster route is intended to ease seasonal traffic and improve access for tourists visiting the area.

The minister estimates it will save 23.9 billion lira each year and reduce carbon emissions by 47,000 tonnes annually.

Construction is ongoing, and no opening date was given.
