Shirley Ballas backs Josh Widdicombe amid criticism of his Strictly presenting
Shirley Ballas has defended Josh Widdicombe after viewers criticised his presenting on Strictly Come Dancing.
Ballas, the BBC dance show's head judge, called him humorous, kind and “brilliant at his job.”
Widdicombe joined a new three-person hosting team with Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe for the 2026 series.
They took over after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman left at the end of the previous series.
The changes have drawn mixed reactions from viewers, including criticism of Widdicombe's style and how the presenters are positioned during the live shows.
Ballas said the new team makes the show feel fresh, and said she has enjoyed working with them as the series settles into its new format.
