Swiss pasta chain Foldini closes after filing for bankruptcy

Swiss pasta company Foldini has filed for bankruptcy less than a year after it began operating.

Its locations in St. Gallen, Zug and Baden were sealed by authorities, including a St. Gallen shop opened in mid-October.

The company is based in Männedorf, in the canton of Zurich, and began with a pop-up at Zurich’s main station in February.

It sold filled ravioli and tortellini imported frozen from Italy, which staff cooked and served with fresh sauce.

Foldini said it could not keep the business economically viable over the long term.

The authorities sealed the premises to secure equipment, furniture and other items for a possible sale.

Money raised could later be used to compensate creditors.
