China sets rules for entry- and intermediate-level elder-care exams

China’s civil affairs and human resources ministries issued rules for entry- and intermediate-level professional qualification exams for elder-care workers.

The rules take effect when issued and set out how the exams will be organized and managed.

Each level has two subjects: comprehensive knowledge and practical work in elder-care services.

The exams are generally held once a year, and results count across a rolling two-year period.

Candidates must pass every subject within two consecutive exam years to receive the relevant qualification certificate.

National offices will oversee the exams, while provincial and local authorities will organize them in their areas.

The civil affairs ministry will prepare exam guidelines, which the human resources ministry must approve before they are released.
