Russian auto services to report oil use under marking rules from 2027
From 1 March 2027, Russian auto services must report oil purchases and use through Russia’s Honest Sign product-tracking system.
The requirement applies to businesses and individual entrepreneurs that repair or maintain vehicles.
The rules extend product tracking from shops to repair work, where oils and fluids are used on customers’ vehicles.
The stated aim is to make products traceable through to their use and help address unmarked or counterfeit supplies.
Oils and fluids in packages of up to 30 grams or 30 millilitres are exempt from mandatory marking.
Manufacturers will also have to provide the system with the specific address of their production site.
The new requirements take effect on 1 March 2027, while products marked before then remain subject to the existing rules.
Russian auto repair and maintenance businesses will have to report purchases and use of motor oils and special automotive fluids to the Chestny ZNAK monitoring system from March 1, 2027.
The requirement extends product tracking to the point where oils and fluids are used in vehicle servicing.
The rules also exempt lubricants weighing up to 30 grams or measuring up to 30 millilitres from mandatory marking.
The government approved amendments to the marking rules on October 21, 2026.
