Andrea Sempio’s seized diary mentions man whose death is under new investigation

A seized diary belonging to Andrea Sempio names Giovanni Ferri, a retired mechanic found dead in Garlasco, Italy, in 2010.

Ferri, who was 88, was found in a gap in a wall, and his death was initially treated as suicide.

Pavia prosecutors have reopened the case as a suspected murder to clarify how he died.

Sempio is also the only person under investigation in the 2007 killing of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco.

The diary page places Ferri’s name beside “Ale”, whose identity is not known, and includes unclear notes that also mention the Poggi case.

Ferri’s widow wants Sempio questioned so investigators can ask what the notes mean.

The widow’s lawyer says he will ask prosecutors to question Sempio as part of the renewed investigation.
