Muhsin Atcı appointed head of Turkey’s Capital Markets Board

Turkey has appointed Muhsin Atcı to lead its Capital Markets Board, the regulator responsible for the country’s capital markets.

Atcı was previously head of the Tax Inspection Board, which oversees tax audits.

Ersin Başar Ekmekçi was appointed deputy chair, and Yasemin Girici was named a board member.

The appointments were made by presidential decision and published in the Official Gazette.

The previous chair, Mahmut Sütcü, left the post on October 19; an initial public statement said he had resigned for health reasons.

Atcı was due to take up the role on November 1, according to one account of the appointment.
