Netflix unveils trailer for Takayuki Yamada series ‘Kokumin Quiz’

Netflix has released a trailer for Kokumin Quiz, an eight-episode series starring Takayuki Yamada.

It is set in a fictional Japan where parliamentary democracy has collapsed and a television quiz show has become the country’s highest authority.

Winners can have their wishes granted by the government, while those who lose face forced labor.

Yamada plays Kii, a charismatic host whose show has a powerful hold on the public.

Seiji Nambara, who lost family because of the show, joins a resistance and meets a girl who wants Kii dead.

A government force pursues the people trying to bring down the show, as their actions threaten the system it supports.

The series begins streaming worldwide on Netflix on December 17.
